One of my favorite pictures from my gigging days. Here's the Riv I played for nearly 10 years. I don't recall where I got it, but it was through a website that offers custom TR covers. Apparently I bought 2 of them at the time.
#PEERLESS GUITARS CANADA MODS#
I bought the trussrod cover nearly 10 years ago when I did the same mods to the one I had previously. Yep, I have a copy of your pic in my Epi Riv folder on my desktop.

You've definitely got me interested in comparing one of these with my Japanese Riviera nowĭezb1 wrote:Looks like the twin of my 1994 Peerless my longest serving guitar, where did you get the black pickguard & truss rod cover? If I hadn't needed it to trade up to a 330 I had my eye on at the time I'd definitely have kept it. I had a brand new Chinese Dot Studio in arctic white around 12 years ago and that thing was the absolute nuts. Also, no matter how much fiddling I did I couldn't get rid of the dead frets and buzzing around the 13th/14th fret, you know, where most solos are played. Placing your hand on the neck to play standing up was enough to perform a bend of the strings, which is a real shame as I would very much have rated it otherwise. Sadly, the thing wouldn't stay in tune for toffee and this was only exacerbated by the neck being the flimsiest thing I've ever played. And the push-pull coil tap was great, I really liked the honky neck pickup in single coil mode.

#PEERLESS GUITARS CANADA PRO#
I can tell you that the recent Epiphone 335 Pro I had SOUNDED the absolute nuts, I think their new(ish) pickups are called Probuckers or something. Can anybody compare these to the current crop? But I didn't touch either of them for long enough (let alone like 2 years in between) to get a decent comparison. I've played a 339 in GC for a few minutes and was pleasantly surprised, and the Peerless had some kind of magic. I'd be really interesting in anyone's comparison to current Epiphone 335/339 PROs in build quality (pickups can be changed).
